The providers in this option are mostly statutory and private
providers of larger entertainment venues such as theatres, swimming
pools and sports halls. You do not necessarily need to be a member,
although some sports facilities may have a joining and/or annual
fee. Please check before your first visit. There may be
concessionary charges for younger and older people or people in
receipt of benefits.
For local arts and sports groups provided mainly by the
community please search 'Clubs and Societies - arts and
creativities - heritage - sports and physical activities'.
To find out how to travel to these larger venues search 'Getting
around' for details about public transport. Contact the venue to
check details including access and parking if needed before you
visit.
Some theatres and other venues will allow unpaid carers to
accompany the person they care for free of charge, please check
first. Some cinemas hold special screenings for particular groups,
such as older people or those with learning disabilities so
please ask your local cinema if you would like to know
more.
